Douglas James began playing guitar at the age of 14, building a lifelong connection to music that started much earlier, sitting by the record player, absorbing the sounds of artists like The Beatles, Bread, John Denver, and James Taylor. Those early influences continue to shape his musical voice today.

After serving 25 years in the U.S. Navy and Air Force, first as a submariner and later in Security Forces, Douglas transitioned from military life to fully pursuing his passion for music. Now performing full-time, he brings the depth of his life experience into every song he plays.

His music is rooted in the traditions of great American songwriters, drawing inspiration from artists such as John Denver, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Jackson Browne, and Amos Lee. His performances have been described as introspective and heartfelt, blending thoughtful lyrics with expressive guitar work, an Americana sound that echoes with nostalgia and the spirit of Rocky Mountain yesterdays.
